- A fraction represents a part of a whole. It is represented by 2 numbers separated by a horizontal line, called a bar.
- The number above the bar is called the Numerator and the number below the bar is called the Denominator.
- Fractions with the same denominator are called like fractions.
- Fractions with different denominator are called unlike fractions.
- To get fractions equivalent to a given fraction, we multiply or divide its numerator and denominator by the same number.
- If two fractions have the same denominators, the fraction with greater numerator is greater. Example 5/8 > 3/8
- If two fractions have same numerator, the fraction with smaller denominator is greater. Example 5/7 > 5/9
